MBOP Annual Events
In collaboration with local partners, MBOP hosts a variety of annual events.
Are you a crafty, food-motivated, family-oriented, or couch potato type of science-person?
Our group consists of three branches aiming to serve audiences of all kinds:
Family Science Education
The Local Outreach branch of MBOP coordinates events and activities that connect people of all ages to the wonderful world of science! Our mission is to share scientific knowledge with the general public and to inspire today’s youth to become the next generation of researchers. To this end, we partner with organizations and schools within New Jersey and the surrounding areas to engage with diverse communities through hands-on science activities.
Our events and programs are founded in the philosophy that science is for everyone, which is why we strive to encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to experience the excitement of discovering new things through science!
Adult-Focused Engagement
Our Adult Outreach branch organizes and hosts events that bring curious adults together to experience science in action! Our mission is to help people learn about the science all around us, from that hiding in plain sight to the achievements that propel humanity higher and farther. Our events are designed to engage, inspire, and—like any good experiment—to result in even more questions and curiosity! Every good scientist knows that good science is a team effort, and to that end we partner with a variety of local businesses and organizations across New Jersey to bring in field experts and engage with diverse communities.
Our philosophy is that science is for everyone—all you need is a bit of curiosity. No prior experience or knowledge is necessary! We welcome everyone from all walks of life to come and explore what makes our world tick!
Virtual Programming
We have an interactive Virtual Outreach Program that makes science accessible to a wide audience (including all you weekenders perfectly happy browsing the web from your couches). You can get a look into what it is like to have a career as a scientist, check out some at-home science projects in our DIY: Discover It Yourself video series on YouTube, and interact directly with our MBOP scientists by posting in our questions forum. Don't hesitate to experience science anywhere, anytime!
In addition, we are active on social media, including Instagram, Twitter, and our Medium science blog, where you can find open-access articles written by our very own Princeton scientists on topics ranging from COVID-19 to your microbiome!
